I and two other web professionals were hired as a group to work on the graphics and content for the University of Idaho Library’s International Jazz Collections. The University of Idaho is home to the Lionel Hampton School of Music and the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. The International Jazz Collections were founded with many donations of Lionel’s as well as materials, recordings, and manuscripts from many other prominent jazz artists and personalities including Ella Fitzgerald, Leonard Feather, Joe Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, and Ray Brown. As the collection grew, artwork was needed to represent each collection as well as a logo.
The logo that I was asked to create for the collection incorporates the lines of the musical staff and hints at a vinyl record album. For each collection, the three of us collaborated on slideshow collages representing each jazz personality.
